CHEER EXPLOSION!!!!!

The Newton Cheer Explosion Super and Midget Competition Cheerleading squads, comprised of 34 girls from the Newton, Andover, and Green school districts have earned bids to the Eastern Cheerleading Association National Competition in Williamsburg, VA, March 19 - 21. These teams are part of the Newton Junior Athletic League, a non-profit organization, which offers sport programs for the youth of the entire Newton School sending district.

After having a winning camp experience and regular competition season, the Cheer Explosion Super squad, which includes seventeen girls in fourth through sixth grade, earned two first place bids to National competitions this year.  They were named the first place team in their division at the UCA sponsored Garden State Open on January 11, 2004, which earned them a bid to the National competition in Orlando, Florida.  They then went on the capture the title of ECA Regional Champions in the Youth Small Division at a competition held on January 17, 2004 at Lakeland High School.  That title earned them the bid to compete in Williamsburg.

The Cheer Explosion Midget squad, consisting of seventeen girls in grades 6 through 8,  earned the opportunity at camp to be part the of the Capital One Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida and a preliminary bid to the UCA Nationals.  They completed their regular season with a winning record and went on to compete in both the UCA Garden State Open and the ECA Regionals.  They competed in the Junior High level at the ECA Regionals and ranked so well in scoring against some very tough competition, that they also received a bid to the National event in Williamsburg.

These girls are highly dedicated to their team and their sport.  They set high goals for themselves this season with hopes of placing at each of the local competitions they attended and of competing at the National level.  With the dedication of their coaches and team advisors, the encouragement of their parents, the cooperation of their school administrations and their own hard work and commitment they have truly earned their winning season and received their bids.  They are now on their way to Williamsburg to fulfill their final dream of this season!
